Welcome Blankets
To support the needs of immigrants at the US-Mexico border, Valley Neighbors has worked with members of our community to participate in the Welcome Blanket Project through welcomeblanket.org.
Through this project, participants make blankets of welcome which are distributed to refugees and asylees, often as they are released from detention centers throughout the country. Such blankets are meant to serve as encouragement and welcome to our new neighbors. Additionally, such projects serve as an opportunity to engage our local community members on topics regarding immigration and refugee policy and current events.
Valley Neighbors wishes to extend its deep appreciation to the religious communities in Bigfork and Kalispell as well as other local individuals who have shown their support in creating dozens of blankets which have been shipped to the IRC Welcome Center in Arizona.
